NATIONAL CALVADOS WEEK


Bars and restaurants around the UK are set to champion France’s apple cider brandy with events and special menus for National Calvados Week.

Running from October 16 to 22, over 100 bars, restaurants and shops have already pledged to celebrate and promote calvados through cocktails, tastings, food pairings and special dishes cooked with the spirit.

It is being spearheaded by drinks company Emporia Brands in collaboration with Père Magloire Calvados, the leading brand in France and worldwide, dating back to 1821.

WSET Level 2 - Edinburgh

Emporia Brands is an Approved Programme Provider (APP) for the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET), authorised to offer their globally recognised and Ofqual certified spirits courses at both Level 1 and Level 2.

  • WSET provides best-in-class education and qualifications. WSET qualifications are globally recognised as the international standard in wine and spirit knowledge. They are designed for established professionals, as well as the many enthusiasts who have a passion for spirits.
  • Emporia Brands is offering a programme of two day Level 2 courses in London, Edinburgh and Manchester over the next 12 months. For full details of the course content, click here.
  • WSET Level 2 is an intermediate level qualification in spirits, suitable for anyone in the industry or spirits enthusiasts. It is not essential to have completed Level 1 before taking Level 2, if you already have at least a basic knowledge of spirits. You'll learn about the production methods and characteristics of the main spirits categories and how to use them. Upon successful completion you'll receive a WSET certificate and label pin, and qualify to use the WSET certified logo.

The cost per person for a two day course is £350 + VAT, for which includes materials (sent in advance), samples, and the Ofqual-certified WSET exam at the end of day 2.

NATIONAL VODKA DAY

Celebrate National Vodka Day with vodka distillers Staritsky & Levitsky. 

Staritsky & Levitsky was founded by a group of vodka enthusiasts, passionate about reviving the heritage and traditions of authentic, small batch vodka distillation in the historic birthplace of the vodka production. After years of field trips, tastings and recipe research in the geographic “vodka belt” of Europe, they found the perfect place for their venture in the city of lviv, in Ukraine, close to the Polish border and the protected carpathian mountains with their crystal clear water wells, and with access to Ukraine’s black soil, which produces unique grains for distillation.

They craft all their spirits from single grain Ukrainian wheat, which is distilled five times in traditional copper stills before being filtered twice through charcoal and twice through rhinestone. The resulting vodka rests for an extensive time to gain its delicate balance and maturity.

Join Emporia and Chairman's Reserve Rum at the Magic Roundabout, Old Street London, on Tuesday 26th September for a evening of superb Mai Tai's and a lot of St. Lucian rum! Four finalists from across the UK will be taking over a pop up bar each and serving their signature serve Chairman's Mai Tais.

On entry, each attendee will be given four tokens which they can trade with each of the bars for their signature Mai Tai serve. After tasting each bars Chairman's Mai Tai, attendees will be given a final token to vote for their favourite Mai Tai.

Leeds first independent festival of Rum is going to be with you for a second year, to showcase the best Rum brands from across the Caribbean and South America! 

Our two day event will bring you a whole host of Rum free to sample with your ticket price, a cocktail bar, food stalls with delicious Jerk, Bao buns from Little Bao Boy plus delicious Rum inspired waffles and desserts from Sugar Spun Sisters! NARDINI TRADE TASTING

The history of the Nardini family is characterised by passion and dedication. Founded by Bortolo Nardini in 1779 on the Ponte Vecchio, the iconic bridge leading into the town of Bassano del Grappa, the family still runs the distillery to keep the tradition and the quality to the top level.
Nardini selects pomace primarily from the red grape varietals traditionally grown in the foothills of Veneto and Friuli, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, characterised by an intense, complex bouquet, creating a unique blend with white grapes such as Pinot Bianco and Friulano.

ABSENTEROUX COCKTAIL COMPETITION - REGIONAL FINAL

Emporia Brands are calling all bartenders from across the UK to create a signature serve using Absenteroux. The top recipes will be entered into 3 territory finals (North, South & Scotland) with the winning recipe receiving a trip to visit Distilleries et Domaines de Provence distillery during the annual worm wood harvest (25 - 26 July).

The only rule is that you must use a mimimum of 20ml's Absenteroux...the best recipes will be entered into the final. Finalists will be announced on the 5th May via Social Media/email.
