the house of marquis de montesquiou, one of the founding armagnac houses of france 's oldest brandy region, traces its origins back to the 11th century and the most famous montesquiou of them all was the celebrated musketeer count d'artagnan. marquis de montesquiou's famous ageing cellars known as "the cathedral" which house over 1800 casks of vintages dating back to the 18th century are right in the heart of armagnac in the gasgony town of eauze. the marquis de montesquiou 'hors d'age 21 year old' contains vintages from 1904, 1965, 1968, 1972, 1979, 1980, 1982 and a proportion from the 'reserve du maître de chais' and is a "house" example of the renowned skill and reputation of cellar master jean-claude dallas who was taught these unique artisan skills by his father-in-law the previous cellar master and in turn jean claude is now training his son.
