régis bernaleau inherited a small established vineyard in margaux from his father in 1980, which he has now expanded, owning two properties totalling 19 ha in braude (haut médoc) and mongravey (margaux). in 2003 his passion for wine and the quality of his work was rewarded by the re-classification of both châteaux properties as crus bourgeois. with his wife, karin, whose business skills are the ideal complement to his winemaking flair, the couple are a dynamic force in the wine industry. the vines are treated with great care in the vineyards and the grapes are hand picked. the modern winery allows for a good, temperature controlled fermentation, after which the wines are put to mature in french oak barrels from 10 different coopers, to add complexity. the resulting wines are top quality examples of the expression of the terroir, enhanced by the skilled care of the winemaker.
