graceland is a small family-run winery, purchased by paul and susan mcnaughton in 1990. susan is the driving force behind the operation as head winemaker and sales ambassador, while paul keeps the books balanced, and even the children lend a hand in the cellars and in the vineyards at harvest. graceland is an 18 ha estate on the slopes of the helderberg, a region famous for its high quality red wines. susan maintains a traditional approach to winemaking, with no insecticides used in the vineyard and keeping all the wines unfiltered, despite commercial expectations. this, though, is coupled with a modern winery that is able to monitor the wines constantly, minimising the risk of oxidation, and can ferment using temperature controlled stainless steel vats so that the optimum levels of maceration are reached.
