leabrook estate is a family-owned boutique winery located in the cool climate Adelaide hills in south Australia . colin best is both grape grower and winemaker, while his wife, chris, manages the marketing and sales for the winery. colin has won many accolades internationally for his superb winemaking skills, including two wines receiving five stars in the 2008 edition of james halliday's guide.

colin's style of winemaking at leabrook estate pays homage to his passion for the French style of viticulture: he plants his vines close, uses organic sprays and prunes for low yields, all of which contributes to intensely flavoured grapes. colin also demands that the harvest is done by hand, to ensure that the grapes are picked at the optimum time and that there is a quality selection process happening even before the grapes reach the winery. colin's aim is to produce subtle wines with good acid balance without over- ripe alcoholic fruit flavours. he takes pride in blending the wines from different barrels taking a very hands-on approach, and this meticulous attention to detail is vital in the production of truly premium wines.
