The award-winning Walsh Whiskey are offering an exclusive trip to their new distillery ‘Royal Oak’, with the chance to experience the range of expressions first hand, as well as the immersive opportunity of a VIP distillery tour located in the heart of barley-growing country, framed by two-hundred-year-old might oaks on the banks of the goodly River Barrow in Ireland’s Ancient East. With a minimum of 35 ml of The Irishman Founder’s Reserve needed, and a maximum of 5 ingredients (including the base whiskey and excluding garnish) allowed, bartenders also need to explain their inspiration as part of their submission. To enter, bartenders are asked to submit their details and cocktail recipe using the register button at the bottom of this page. Entries will be open from 17th March until 12th May, in which a blind judging will take place of all submissions by some of the top industry figures in whiskey, with the winner announced on 19th May, the day before World Whisky Day. The winner will win the trip to Royal Oak later in 2017 where they will re-create their winning recipe to the Walsh Family, VIP’s and journalists within the distillery itself.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SHEA CAMPBELL ON HIS WINNING RECIPE 'THE WILD IRISHMAN'
This past Saturday on World Whisky Day, 20th May 2017, Emporia Brands were proud to announce the winner of their current Walsh Whiskey campaign, ‘The Cold Irishman’ cocktail competition. Asking bartenders from across the UK to focus on an innovative twist on The Irishman signature serve of ‘The Cold Irishman’ using the Founder’s Reserve expression, entries came from venues in Scotland, Wales and England, seeking to become the winner of an all-inclusive trip to the home of Walsh Whiskey, Royal Oak Distillery in County Carlow, Ireland. With the judging panel, which included representatives from both Walsh Whiskey and UK importer Emporia Brands, having only the recipes to hand and being blind on their creator and venue, only one winner could be chosen, resulting in a unanimous decision to award Shea Campbell of SMC Bars in Edinburgh the top prize! His winning recipe, named ‘The Wild Irishman’ sees coconut oil washed The Irishman Founder’s Reserve, fresh brewed roasted barley ''coffee'' and gorse flower syrup shaken together, with a warm foamed Irish cultured dairy floated on top, all served within a custom The Irishman Whiskey vessel. Shea mentioned “my drink draws inspiration from the signature serve The Cold Irishman, but with the theme of using Irish ingredients and innovative techniques to showcase, the variety of Irish ingredients but also to represent the level at which the Irish cocktail scene has grown.”Shea will be travelling to Royal Oak later in 2017 where he will re-create his winning recipe for the Walsh Family, VIP’s and journalists within the distillery itself.
