An emblematic drink of the Belle Époque, absinthe became closely associated with the artists, dancers, poets, cabarets and vibrant nightlife of Paris.
The Moulin Rouge was part of this same cultural world. Figures inseparable from the cabaret's history, including Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, were among the absinthe enthusiasts of the period, when the distinctive green spirit became one of the great muses of the Parisian artistic scene.

Its illustrated presentation brings together Grande Absente with imagery of Paris and the Moulin Rouge's famous red windmill, paying tribute to the festive Parisian spirit that the cabaret embodied during the Belle Époque and continues to represent today.
