Mango Bay Mauritius Rum announces its official launch in the UK, introducing a new luxury, additive-free Mauritian rum created to stand apart and champion Mauritius Rum making—inspired by the rich bio-diversity of the island, provenance-led and mythical discovery, shaped by volcanic terroir, tropical ageing, and a rare dual-style blend that brings together the island’s finest molasses and pure sugarcane juice rums.
At the centre of the release is Master Maker & Blender J. Arthur Rackham, whose latest creation is crafted in partnership with the Oxenham Family Distillery in Mauritius—an established, family-owned distillery whose heritage methods and values align closely with Rackham’s own family enterprise, run alongside his son and daughter. Together, they unite contemporary blending mastery with authentic island rum-making traditions to create a spirit that is unmistakably Mauritian and unmistakably Mango Bay.
A rare Mauritian dual-style blend: molasses meets pure cane juice
Mango Bay’s signature character comes from a three-rum composition that celebrates Mauritius’ extraordinary sugarcane heritage and the island’s distinctive ability to build flavour through tropical maturation. The final blend comprises: VS native Mauritius molasses rum, matured in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks, VSOP native Mauritius molasses rum, matured in Spanish Oloroso and PX sherry casks, Gold native Mauritius pure sugar cane juice rum, matured in French oak.
The rum is 100% Mauritian, 100% pot distilled (low temperature), and entirely additive-free, allowing the natural richness of molasses, the elegance of cane juice, and the complexity of sherry-seasoned oak and French oak to shine through with clarity and depth. Mauritius’ volcanic soils, combined with the island’s warmth and humidity, help accelerate maturation and intensify character, before finishing and marrying J.Arthur Rackham’s Master Blend for a luxuriously smooth profile.
In the glass, Mango Bay shows golden amber tones with warm mahogany highlights. On the nose: ripe tropical fruit, toasted oak and vanilla, layered with raisin, dried fig and sweet spice from Oloroso and PX casks, plus floral cane notes and a gentle nutty sweetness. The palate brings caramelised banana, honey and dark chocolate, opening into stone fruits, candied orange peel and warming spice for a long, elegant finish.
